have plagued the community for more than a month now. megan, good morning >> reporter: well, good morning, eun. the latestobbery tk place early sunday morning here in this parking lot. there have been several such robberies in recent weeks. now, all the crimes have taken place off campus in the neighborhoo surrounding the university of maryland. students are being asked to be careful. the parking lot is well lit a not exactly off the beaten path. but that didn't stop the suspects. early sunday morning, police say three men jumped their victim from behind, soughted and roed him in the parking lot of a college park shopping center. the crime is the latest in a string of robberies. there have been six such crimes since august 8th. students have been put on alert. it's unclear if the crimes are connected. all have happened early in the morning and involved self suspects. in some case the criminals had been armed. in other cases the victims have been beaten.

the latest victim does not attend the university of maryland but several other victims are students. last week a man as connected with a robbery in early august. they are still looking for two accomplices. despite that arrest, robberies continue. and the question is whether some of the crimes are perhaps related. whether the same people are responsible. at this point police just don't know. again, everyone is being asked to be careful and not walk alone after 2:00 in the morning and between 2:00 and 4:00. >> megan, thanks so much. a law student and green party u.s. senate candidate is mowed do by an suv in an suv accident. she was riding her bike campus way 5:30 yesterday morning when she was hit. she suffered head trauma, broken ribs and lost a kidney. police say the driver who left the scene claimed she did not

know she had hit anyone until she got home and found it stuck under her cadillac escalade. >> if you don't see the person, you should have seen the bicycle. why would you hit someone and keep going on? yes, i'm definitely searching for answers. state police seized the bike and the cadillac. they say alcohol was not a factor. soar the driver hasot been charged. frederick police will try to figure out who killed an armed suspect during a shoot-out with police. it happened at 6:0 yesterday morning in the 200 block of market street. police officers approached a man with a rifl during a domestic diste and exchanged gunfire. they are still trying to figure out whether the officer killed him or whether the suspect turned the gun on himself. a final good-bye to political activist and scholar ron walters. a memorial service was held yesterday at howard university.

crime alert. eight people have been shot over the weekend in ward 4 in the district. this violence began just after midnight on friday with one person shot in the 600 block of longfellow streetnorthwest. fewer than five hours later, a woman was caught in gunfi near 9th and deindicator street. four people shot on satuay night in the 700 block of sheprd. that's about a block away from a police substation. two people were shot in the 100 block of kennedy street northwest before sunrise. we have checked with d.c. police and they say they do not know of any arrest in y shootings. police on the hunt for a person who murdered a

it could have been a big mess. this is part of what we're seeing out here. drivers who used 123 to route 7 you will have to exit using a new exit. it will take you to frontage road. turn right on route 7 west. if you miss the new ramp, you'll have to continue south on 123, turn right on old courthouse road, which eventually intersects with route 7 in both directions. but here's the key. we're showing you the courtyard marriott because this is the point that will let you know it's time to go ahead and get into your right-hand lane. when you see the courtyard marriott get into your right hand lane and know the first ramp exit, follow these words. that's the ramp that you actually want to take. please don't try to back up on the ramp. make sure that you get on that ramp and stay down to frontage road to where you're going next. this is going to be the new plan

problem. the victim was walking alone across the apartment when he was assaulted and robbed b three victims. we have had a half dozen similar robberies in the last few weeks. the parking lot is wellit and not exactly off the beaten path. early sunday morning police say three men jumped tir victim from behind, assaulted and robbed him in the parking lot of the college park shopping center. the crime is the latest in a string of robberies. there have been six such crimes since august 8. students have been put on alert. it's unclear if the crimes are connected. all have happened early in the morning and involved several suspects. in some cases the criminals had been armed. in other cases the victims had been beaten. the latest victim does not attend the university of maryland, but veral other victims are students. last week police arsted a man in connection with a robbery in
